Sorry for screwing up the camera directory for a couple of days there. If you tried to browse it and got a 403 Forbidden message, that's been fixed. I broke the automatic directory listing functionality when I changed the document root for the site. I added a <Directory> directive for it and made it indexable again.

I'm going to bed in a few minutes, but I can't very well leave this entry without any pictures. So here you are, a few pictures of yours truly:

I guess I need to clean my bathroom mirror....

Server Config and Spinach Casserole

Date: Thu 20 January 2005
Time: 2:53 PM EST

I've been playing around with my server some more today. I got virtual hosts set up in the apache configuration so, if I wanted to, I could host more than one domain. I also set up the document root to be under my home directory's public_html, rather than /var/www/html, so I don't have to su to root to update the site.

Also set up the X server on Stone to accept X connections from my server. Now I can edit my web site with gvim, my favorite text editor.

I started my dinner cooking in the crockpot this morning at around 11:30am. It's a recipe I made up about a year ago while driving to work one morning: about two pounds of stew beef, a can of spinach, two cans of cream of mushroom soup, about half a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, about a cup of milk, and about a third of a bag of croutons. I call it spinach casserole. This time, for some adventure, I added some salt, pepper, and some Korean red pepper.

Starting a Blog

Date: Thu 13 January 2005
Time: 5:27 PM EST

I'm just finishing up a plate of galbi and rice with cream soda for dinner. Barney is here with me, between the keyboard and the monitor (but not in the way), no doubt waiting for me to finish my food so he can lick the plate. I'm sitting here in my pajamas, starting a blog.

I got the galbi at Buford Highway Farmer's Market the day before yesterday, when my good friend Bridgette invited me to come along on her errands (and generously made an extra stop at Kroger to let me do my own grocery shopping while we were out). My apartment isn't too far out of her way when she goes to Buford Farmer's Market.

I didn't do much today. I rarely do on my days off. I slept in till about 11:00am, cooked and ate bacon, eggs, and toast with a glass of coke. I browsed around on the Web to pass the time. Worked on one of my programming projects (a two-player breakout game). I ought to do my laundry, but it's raining outside and I don't feel like carting my sack of laundry to the bus stop and waiting for the bus in the rain.

So it's going to be another four days at least of wearing already-worn clothes, since this evening is the last chance I'll have to do laundry until Tuesday. I work a twelve-hour shift Friday through Monday.

I had the door to the back deck open earlier today because the cats like to be able to go out on to the deck, and it was warm enough outside to open it up and turn off the air conditioner.

By 'air conditioner,' of course, I meant the heater. If you thought I was talking about the cooling, then take a moment to think about what the phrase 'air conditioning' really means. It means 'conditioning of the air,' which encompasses heating, cooling, dehumidifying, whatever. Anything that changes the state of the air, usually for the purpose of making it more to our liking. It grates on me whenever I hear the phrase 'heating and air conditioning,' as if the two were opposites.

Barney left the room some time ago, and now Binky is here. He must have just come from using the water bowl (yes, I know I badly need to mop that floor), judging by that water droplet on his nose.

The time is now 19:13 EST. It's still raining.
