I'm still confining myself to my easy chair because of my back. Wikipedia, sdljump, minesweeper, and SHOUTcast are keeping me sane.
I was able to go in to work two days last week, but at the end of the second day I could barely walk so I worked from home the next two days. I think I'll be able to manage going in all four days next week as long as I don't do anything physical.

It's official: I have given my notice to my boss that I am leaving GNAX at the end of February. He offered to keep my on doing contract work on the in-house database project. I might just take him up on that, since I sure could use the money. I'll think about it some more though, since the next few months are going to keep me pretty busy anyway working on the backup server business. If I can do the contract work from home, then that might work.

I just got home from the vet with Binky a little while ago. Like before, he was very happy to get back. As it turns out, the problem does not appear to be crystal formation, but rather repeating bladder infections. His urine pH tested at 7 (i.e., neutral) both this time and last month, but crystals usually only form if it is near 1 or 14. But he also had an infection both this time and last month. I've got some antibiotics to give him for the next week. The doctor recommended only giving him a little bit of dry food to eat and mixing some warm water with the canned food so that he drinks a lot of water. Keeping the urine dilute and flushed out regularly usually helps with this kind of problem.
If he gets blocked up yet again, then he will get surgury to remove his penis which contains the narrow part of a male cat's urethra. I've been putting that off because when Inky had that surgury he died several weeks later due to excessive scarring which closed the hole up so tight that the vet couldn't even get a catheter in.
