Telemarketers

My policy for dealing with telemarketers from now on is as follows:

Act interested. Be friendly with the telemarketer. At the end of the pitch, when the telemarketer asks me to sign up, say, "Well, it sounds like a great deal, and normally I would have bought it, but as a matter of principle I think people shouldn't buy things from telemarketers."

I expect to get a call from Dish Networks next week, so I'll try this out then. They've called me once a week for the last three weeks. Today the telemarketer hung up on me after I asked him to list all 120 channels included with the package.

Barney Still Sick

Barney's condition hasn't changed since I took him to the vet last week. He's still not eating much, still doesn't play with me or Binky, doesn't pace around meowing at night like he used to, hardly makes any sound in fact except for a few meows at dinner time. The lack of sound is very unusual for him, since he used to make little grunts every time he jumped, landed, or was startled. I haven't heard him purr in more than a week. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with him from a physical examination and a blood analysis other than a very slightly elevated level of muscle enzyme, which was expected given that he's lost weight.

She couldn't get a urine sample when I was there last week because Barney's bladder was empty. I called her today to report that he hasn't gotten any better, and she said she wants me to put a plastic sheet over the litter box so I can get some pee to take to her. She's not looking for anything in particluar though; it's just another test to look for anything out of the ordinary.

I'm worried that my little Dooder is going to die.
